A great show they do deliver, not full of 'razzle-dazzle' but they are truly excellent musicians! What can I say that hasn't been said? They are like I last saw them yesterday in a long time. The music? It's really more of a mind-set and feeling about the music which takes you to another place and time. That's what being a parrot-head is all about. You don't have to be one, mind you, to enjoy the show, BUT it will give you that special feeling if you are one. Trust me, I was there! I remember first seeing Kami YEARS before she was famous. Nobody knew where Key West was. I gave her a couple of bucks! She did play on the sidewalk in front of Sloppy Joes (with her guitar case opened!!!) and on occasion at a Mallory Square sunset. Those were the days! The only way to get there was to drive on the Overseas Highway or take this scary little plane flown by Air Florida out of Miami. It was a crazy town back then around 1973-75 when Mel Fisher just started digging for gold. Little did I realize, I was watching a star being born. In my opinion, her greatest music was written there during that time. She still plays it at her shows. In Key West, Kami had come down from Nashville. I would go to all her local gigs. It was a great time to be in Key West. If you have never been to a Kami Kehoe/Coral Reefer Band show, get to one before you leave this earth. You'll thank me when we meet upstairs. Enjoy.
